This bulletin has been amended. The Claims Information and Service Procedure have been updated. No other changes have been made. Please discard all previous versions of this bulletin.
APPLIED VEHICLE:
2007 Frontier (D40) with V6 (VQ40) engine only
2007 Xterra (N50) with V6 (VQ40) engine only
2007 Pathfinder (R51) with V6 (VQ40) engine only
IF YOU CONFIRM:
Any of the following DTCs are stored:
^ P0031 / P0051 (A/F Sensor 1 Heater; Bank 1 / 2)
^ P0133 / P0153 (A/F Sensor 1 Slow Response; Bank 1 / 2)
^ P2A00 / P2A03 (A/F Sensor 1 Range/Performance; Bank 1 / 2)
^ P1148 / P1168 (Closed Loop Control; Bank 1 / 2)
ACTIONS:
1. Refer to Step 2 in the Service Procedure to confirm this bulletin applies to the vehicle you are working on.
2. If this bulletin applies, reprogram the ECM and replace both A/F sensors (bank 1 & 2).
NOTE:
^ Use the new A/F sensor listed in the Parts Information.
^ The original and replacement sensors look different, see above.
IMPORTANT:
The purpose of "ACTIONS" (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire Service Procedure as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair.

Submit a Primary Failed Part (PP) line claim using the claims coding table above.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Connect C-III to the vehicle to begin the reprogramming procedure.
CAUTION
2. When you get to the ECM Reprogramming screen shown in Figure 1, confirm this bulletin applies as follows:
A. On your C-III screen, look at the Part Number column (see Figure 1):
^ If this column is blank (no part number listed), this bulletin does not apply. Close C-III and refer to ASIST for further diagnostic information.
^ If a Part Number is listed, write it on the Repair Order.
B. Go to C below.
C. Compare the Part Number you wrote down to the numbers in the Current ECM Part Number column in Table A.
^ If there is a match, this bulletin applies. Continue with the reprogramming procedure.
IMPORTANT:
If there are two lines (two reprogramming options) on your C-III screen, use the one with the message "Caution! Use ONLY with NTB08-103."
^ If there is not a match, this bulletin does not apply. Close C-III and refer to ASIST for further diagnostic information.
3. If this bulletin applies and you have performed ECM reprogramming, the screen in Figure 2 appears when reprogramming is complete.
4. Make sure to erase DTCs from all Systems.
NOTE:
During the reprogramming, DTCs will set in several systems and must be erased.
5. Replace both A/F sensors (bank 1 and bank 2).
^ Use the new A/F sensor listed in the Parts Information.
^ Refer to Exhaust Manifold and Three Way Catalyst in Section EM of the Service Manual for A/F sensor replacement information.
6. Test drive the vehicle and make sure it operates correctly and the Check Engine light is OFF.
^ If the Check Engine light comes ON, go back to ASIST for further diagnostic information. Refer to the applicable Electronic Service Manual as needed.
^ Diagnosis and repairs beyond the ECM reprogramming and A/F replacement are not covered by this bulletin.
