Compressor Replacement

Operate compressor for 10-15 minutes, if possible, with engine at idle speed, A/C control set for maximum cooling, blower on high speed, and windows open, in order to return refrigerant oil to compressor. When installing new compressor, drain all oil from new and old compressors and add same amount of oil to new compressor as was removed from old compressor.

3. Loosen A/C idler pulley and remove splash pan.
4. Remove lower compressor mounting bolts, then lower vehicle.
5. On B210 models, loosen AIR idler pulley, remove AIR and compressor drive belts, and remove AIR pump.
6. Disconnect wiring harness connector to compressor.
7. Disconnect refrigerant lines at compressor and plug lines and open fittings.
8. Support compressor and remove upper mounting bolts.
9. Rotate compressor so that clutch faces up and remove compressor from vehicle.
10. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Drain refrigerant oil from new and old compressor and add same amount of new refrigerant oil to system as was drained from old compressor.

b. Rotate compressor shaft several revolutions by hand before installing drive belt.
c. Evacuate and recharge system, then check for leaks.
