Manual Transmission/Transaxle: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove accelerator linkage.
3. Raise and support vehicle.
4. Disconnect front exhaust pipe, catalytic converter and heat shield.
5. Disconnect back-up switch wiring.
6. Disconnect speedometer cable from extension housing.
7. Remove propeller shaft. Install plug at rear extension housing opening to prevent fluid spillage.
8. Remove clutch operating cylinder.
9. Support engine with suitable jack.
10. Support transmission with suitable jack.
11. Remove console box.
12. Place selector lever in Neutral, then remove E-ring and selector lever.
13. Remove rear engine mount attaching nuts, crossmember mounting nuts, and exhaust mounting bracket attaching nut.
14. Remove bolts attaching transmission to engine and gusset.
15. Slide transmission rearward and lower from vehicle.
16. Reverse procedure to install.
