Pick-Up Coil Resistance Test

Fig. 3 Pickup coil resistance test connections with external IC unit.:

1. With ignition switch off, remove distributor cap and rotor.
2. Test pick-Up coil in installed position by connecting an ohmmeter between the two leads as shown in Fig. 3.
3. Resistance should be approximately 400 ohms. If resistance is substantially above or below 400 ohms, remove pick-up coil as outlined in service procedure, and retest.
4. If resistance is still substantially above or below 400 ohms, replace pick-up coil.
