Testing For Sound


1. If engine can run:
a Start the engine and run at idle. Attach the top of a screwdriver to each injector to ensure that it sounds while operating.
b. If a low sound is produced from an particular injector, that injector is faulty.
2. If engine cannot run:
a Disconnect electric connector of cold start valve to protect catalytic converter.
b. Crank the engine and check that injectors produce sounds to indicate operation.
c. If a low sound is produced from any particular injector, the injector is faulty.
d. If no sound is heard from all injectors, check harness for continuity as outlined in "Continuity Test."
e. If harnesses are normal, check operation of control unit.
