HOT ENGINE PERFORMANCE IN WARM WEATHER SENTRA, PULSAR (E15, E16) CARBURETED FUEL PUMP
APPLIED MODELS: 1982-1984 Sentra, 1983-1984 Pulsar (non-turbo), (E15 and E16 carbureted engines only)
SERVICE INFORMATION
Some of the applied models may experience poor driveability after extended idle or after short engine-off soaks. This condition may occur when inappropriate winter grade fuels are used during the spring and summer seasons. To reduce this condition, use the following Parts Information and Service Procedure as a countermeasure for affected A/T vehicles prior to the Applied VINs and all affected M/T vehicles.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
NOTE: Use the illustration on page 3 as a guide for the Service Procedure.
After disconnecting fuel hoses, drain fuel remaining in fuel hoses into a container.
1. Remove the air cleaner.
2. Remove and discard the fuel hose from the carburetor to the fuel return pipe. Install the blind plug (P/N 16599-05M00) on the pipe marked OUT at the carburetor and tighten the hose clamp.
3. Disconnect at the fuel pump the fuel hose between the fuel pump outlet and carburetor inlet.
4. Remove and discard the fuel hose between the fuel filter outlet and fuel pump inlet.
NEW FUEL PUMP AND FUEL HOSE ROUTING:
5. Remove the fuel pump and install the new pump (P/N 17010-34A25) and a new gasket.
6. Connect the fuel hose from the fuel pump outlet to the carburetor inlet. Tighten the hose clamp.
7. Install new fuel hose (P/N 16440-34M10) from the fuel filter outlet to the fuel pump inlet. Tighten the hose clamps.
8. Install the new fuel hose (P/N 16440-34M12) from the fuel pump return to the fuel return tube. Tighten the hose clamps.
9. Install the two clips (P/N 22472-B8000) around the fuel hoses as shown in the figure.
10. Install the air cleaner.
