Compressor Replacement
Operate compressor for 10-15 minutes, if possible, with engine at idle speed, A/C control set for maximum cooling, blower on high speed, and windows open, in order to return refrigerant oil to compressor. When installing new compressor, drain all oil from new and old compressors and add same amount of oil to new compressor as was removed from old compressor.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable and discharge system refrigerant.
2. Remove compressor drive belt.
3. Disconnect electrical connectors and flexible hoses at compressor.
4. Remove compressor with its clutch facing up.
5. Reverse procedure to install, torquing bolts to 33-40 ft. lbs., then evacuate and charge system and check for leaks.
