SERVICE INFORMATION

Some of the Applied Models may experience a hard start condition or engine hesitation during warm-up. This is most likely to occur in wet or high humidity conditions. When these conditions exist, perform the following Service Procedure.

DISTRIBUTOR CAP:

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Check the distributor cap for a letter "S" stamped next to the Hitachi trademark as shown below.
2. If the cap does not have the letter "S" and the engine number is within the affected engine number range shown on page 1/2, replace the cap with a new cap listed in the Parts Information of this bulletin.

3. If the cap does have the letter "S" and the engine number is not within the affected engine number range or if the above procedure does not correct the condition, refer to the EF & EC section of the appropriate Service Manual for driveability diagnosis and Technical Bulletin EF85-XXX, "Use of Methanol and Gasoline Antifreeze".
