Fuel Injector: Service and Repair
FUEL INJECTOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION1. Release fuel pressure to zero.
2. Disconnect the following from the intake collector.
a. Air duct.
b. Accelerator wire.
c. Blow-by hoses.
d. Air regulator hose.
e. B.C.D.D. hose.
f. E.G.R. tube.
g. Harness clamps.
h. Harness connectors.
i. Intake collector cover.
j. Water hoses.
3. Disconnect fuel hoses.
4. Remove intake collector.
5. Remove bolts securing fuel tube.
6. Remove bolts securing injectors and remove injectors, fuel tubes and pressure regulator as an assembly.
7. Remove fuel hose.
a. Heat sharp knife for 15 minutes. Cut into hose braided reinforcement from mark to socket end and fuel tube end.
Do not allow sharp knife to cut all the way through the hose and touch injector tail piece.
b. Pull rubber hose out with hand.
8. Install new fuel injector as follows:
a. Clean exterior of injector tail piece and fuel tube end.
b. Wet inside of new rubber hose with fuel.
c. Push end of rubber hose with hose sockets onto injector tail piece and fuel tube end by hand as far as they will go.
CAUTION: After properly connecting fuel hose to injector and fuel tube, check connection for fuel leakage.
