Some 1985 Maxima vehicles may experience a hesitation and/or backfire during acceleration. These symptoms usually occur during engine warm-up with high humidity weather conditions (e.g. rain, fog, mist, etc.). Use the following diagnostic procedure for vehicles that experience these conditions.

COIL COVER AND HIGH TENSION WIRE INSTALLATION
NOTE: Be sure that the coil cable fits tightly onto the coil and into the coil cover.

1. Replace Distributor 1H 22164 99 ED90AA 0.3/hr. cap ONLY.
2. Install Ignition Coil 1H 22165 99 ED91AA 0.3/hr. Protector Kit ONLY.
3. Both of the above. 1H 22166 99 ED92AA 0.4/hr.
