Test Description

1984-86 Stanza Exc. Wagon & 1986 200SX

1. Ensure mode selector on control unit is turned off.
2. Turn ignition switch to On position and ensure inspection lamps on control unit light and remain lit. If not, check harness for battery source.
3. Turn mode selector to On position and ensure Codes 23, 24 (manual transaxle only), 31 and 32 are displayed. If not, note displayed code(s) and proceed to step 4.
4. Depress, then release accelerator pedal and ensure Codes 24 (manual transaxle only), 31 and 32 are displayed. If not, note displayed code(s) and proceed to step 5 on models equipped with manual transaxle, or step 6 on models equipped with automatic transaxle.
5. On models equipped with manual transaxle, shift transaxle from Neutral to 5th gear, then back to Neutral and ensure Codes 31 and 32 are displayed. If not, note displayed code(s) and proceed to step 6.
6. On all models, start engine and ensure Code 31 is displayed. If not, note displayed code(s) and proceed to step 7.
7. Cycle A/C switch or headlamp switch from off to on, then back off and ensure Code 44 is displayed. If not, note displayed code(s) and proceed to step 8.
8. Turn mode selector off and stop engine.
9. Perform diagnosis for codes displayed in steps 3 through 7 as described under ``Diagnosis Charts.''
