Engine Disassembly

Fig. 16 Engine outer components. 200SX w/CA18ET engine:

1. Separate engine from transmission.
2. Remove outer engine components, Fig. 16.
3. Remove timing belt, then the water pump, oil pump and oil pan.
4. Remove pistons, bearing caps and crankshaft.




Piston & Rod Disassembly

1. Remove piston rings with a ring remover.
2. Press out piston pin. Keep disassembled parts in order.

Cylinder Head Disassembly

1. Remove manifolds from cylinder head.
2. Loosen rocker arm adjusting screws fully, then remove rocker shaft assembly. Loosen attaching bolts in two or three steps.
3. Remove camshaft and camshaft oil seal.
4. Remove valves and valve components using a suitable valve compressor tool.
