Engine Replacement


1. Release fuel system pressure as follows:
a. Start engine, then disconnect fuel pump electrical connector, located in trunk tool box.
b. After engine stalls, crank engine 2 or 3 times.
c. Turn ignition switch Off, then reconnect fuel pump electrical connector.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Drain engine oil and coolant into suitable containers.
4. Scribe hood hinge locations and remove hood.
5. Disconnect or remove all hoses, electrical connectors and accessories necessary for engine removal.
6. On models equipped with manual transmission, remove shift lever.
7. On models equipped with automatic transmission, disconnect shift rod from manual shaft.
8. On all models, disconnect exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.
9. Mark relationship between propeller shaft and rear axle companion flange and remove propeller shaft.
10. Attach suitable lifting equipment to engine.
11. Remove engine mounting bolts, then lift engine and transmission as an assembly from vehicle.
12. Reverse procedure to install.
