SERVICE INFORMATION
If an electrical connector is damaged during the installation of the Injector Campaign Kit, or if it was damaged prior to the campaign kit installation, a new connector must be installed. Damaged connectors can cause driveability incidents and customer complaints after the campaign has been performed.
NTB96-010a and NTB96-052, in addition to this bulletin, contain information regarding the correct part numbers for replacement electrical connectors. The NMC connectors are complete assemblies. These connectors include pigtails that DO NOT require any additional assembly or disassembly before installation on the vehicle.
If an electrical connector is replaced, use the procedure in this bulletin to ensure an effective connector installation. A listing of available connectors is provided in this bulletin.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Cut the original electrical connector harness in a location which will ensure that enough wiring harness remains to effectively install a new connector. Remove approximately 3/8" of insulation from each wire and twist each wire end.
2. Trim the new connector pigtail so it matches the length of the original harness. Remove approximately 3/8" of insulation from each wire and twist each wire end. Splice the original wiring harness wires and the new pigtail wires together using a crimp connector (not supplied). After crimping, pull each wire to ensure a tight connection.
3. Seal each connection with electrical tape then tape the entire connection.
