Disassembly
Fig. 1 DFC-328 carburetor exploded view.:
1. Disconnect plunger, then remove A/C idle up diaphragm capsule and bracket, Fig. 1.
2. Disconnect accelerator pump and choke connecting rods, then disconnect and remove throttle return spring and vacuum hoses.
3. Remove screws securing choke chamber, then the choke chamber and gasket.
4. Remove float, needle valve along with buffer spring and the needle valve seat.
5. Remove accelerator pump piston and seal from choke chamber, and the return spring and check ball from pump well in main body.
6. Remove accelerator pump lever, spring and washers, noting installation position for assembly. No further disassembly of choke chamber should be performed unless choke heater, shaft or choke plates must be repaired or replaced.
7. Disconnect and remove secondary throttle diaphragm capsule.
8. Remove dashpot, anti-dieseling solenoid valve and throttle valve switch assemblies, then the float bowl sight glass and seal.
9. Remove screws securing throttle chamber, then the throttle chamber and gasket.
10. Remove accelerator pump and choke links from throttle levers noting installation for assembly.
11. Remove concealment plug, turn mixture adjusting screw clockwise until lightly seating recording number of turns necessary for assembly adjustment, then remove screw. No further disassembly of throttle chamber is required unless throttle plates, shafts or levers must be repaired or replaced.
12. Remove main jet well plug retainer and the plugs.
13. Record calibration value and installation position, then remove jets, air bleeds and mixture control solenoid, as equipped, taking care not to damage or distort calibrated orifices and keeping components in order for assembly.
14. Remove accelerator pump outlet ball plug, spring, weight and check ball.
