Diagnostic Notes

1. Make sure the following are in good operating order:
a. Battery
b. Ignition system
c. Engine oil and coolant levels
d. Fuses
e. EFI or ECCS harness connectors
f. Vacuum hoses
g. Air intake system
h. Valve clearance and engine compression.
2. On air conditioning equipped models, perform tests with air conditioner off.
3. When performing idle RPM, ignition timing, and mixture ratio checks on automatic transmission equipped cars, place gear shift lever in drive position. Always apply parking brake and block wheels when lever is to be shifted to drive position and depress brake pedal when accelerating engine.
