Oil Pan: Service and Repair

OIL PAN AND OIL PUMP

Removal

1. Remove oil pan bolts.





2. Remove oil pan.
(1) Insert Tool between cylinder block and oil pan.

Caution: Do not drive seal cutter into oil pump or rear oil seal retainer portion, or aluminum mating face will be damaged. Do not insert screwdriver, or oil pan flange will be deformed.





(2) Slide Tool by tapping its side with a hammer, and remove oil pan.

3. Remove oil pump assembly.





Installation
1. Install oil pump assembly.
2. Before installing oil pan, remove all traces of liquid gasket from mating surface using a scraper.

Note: Also remove traces of liquid gasket from mating surface of cylinder block.





3. Apply liquid gasket to oil pump gasket and rear oil seal re tamer gasket.








4. Apply a continuous bead of liquid gasket to mating surface of oil pan.

Note: Be sure liquid gasket is 3.5 to 4.5 mm (0.138 to 0.177 in) wide. Use Genuine Liquid Gasket or equivalent.

5. Apply liquid gasket to inner sealing surface instead of surface where there is no groove at bolt hole.

Note: Attaching should be done within 5 minutes after coating.





6. Install oil pan.
^ Install bolts/nuts in their reverse order of removal.
Tighten bolts: 7 - 8 N.m (0.7 - 0.8 kg-m, 5.1 - 5.8 ft-lb)
^ Wait at least 30 minutes before refilling engine with oil.
