Specific Vehicle Procedures

300ZX:

Install 10 amp fuse in the lower right corner of the fuse block, as shown in the illustration below. The compressor is easily accessible at the top left of the engine. Check according to general procedure. (See jumping procedure below.) Remove 10 amp fuse.

JUMP LOW PRESSURE SWITCH AS FOLLOWS:

Disconnect the low pressure switch connector which is located on the receiver drier. (The receiver drier is mounted to the right strut tower.) Jump the harness side of the connector to short the switch.

IF AUTO A/C--JUMP AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR AS FOLLOWS:

Disconnect the ambient temperature sensor connector which is located behind the front bumper, in the left corner. (Just behind, and slightly above the left driving light.) Place a jumper wire from one side of the female connector to the other as shown in the illustration below.

EXTENDED STORAGE SWITCH:

MAXIMA:

Turn on extended storage switch as shown below. The compressor unit is located at the right of the engine compartment and can be accessed from the top. Using a torque wrench and 13 mm short socket, check compressor turning torque and check for noise according to the general procedure given above. (See jumping procedure next page.) Turn off extended storage switch.

NOTE: Be careful not to dislocate coil wire during checking procedure.

JUMP THE DUAL PRESSURE SWITCH AS FOLLOWS:

Disconnect the dual pressure switch connector which is located about 4 inches from the receiver drier. The receiver drier is mounted in the left front corner of the engine compartment. Place a jumper wire from one side of the female connector to the other to short the switch.

IF MANUAL A/C--JUMP AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SWITCH AS FOLLOWS:

Disconnect the ambient temperature switch which is located between the grill and the A/C condenser, on the left side. Place a jumper wire from one side of the female connector to the other as illustrated below:

IF AUTO A/C--JUMP AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR AS FOLLOWS:

Remove the 4 Phillips head screws which secure the front left side lamp assembly. Pull the lamp assembly away from its mounting and let it hang. The ambient temperature sensor connector is located just behind the lamp assembly. Jump from one side of the female connector to the other side as shown below.

200 SX (VG30):

The compressor is easily accessible at the top left of the engine. Check according to general procedure. In order to perform Step 5 of the procedure, the vehicle must be raised on a hoist.

JUMP THE LOW PRESSURE SWITCH AS FOLLOWS:

The low pressure switch must be accessed from underneath the vehicle. Place vehicle on a hoist and raise to about shoulder height. The low pressure switch connector is located at the receiver drier which is mounted in front of the radiator. (See illustration below.) Jump the harness side of the connector.

200SX (4 cyl.):

The compressor must be accessed from underneath the vehicle. Place vehicle on hoist and raise to about shoulder height. Remove dust shield which is located directly below the engine by removing the six sheet metal screws. On this vehicle, it is necessary to use the 13 mm deep socket to provide clearance from stabilizer bar. Check vehicle according to general procedure. (See jumping procedure below.) Reinstall dust shield.

JUMP LOW PRESSURE SWITCH AS FOLLOWS:

The low pressure switch must also be accessed from underneath the vehicle. Disconnect the low pressure switcn connector which is located at the receiver drier. The receiver drier is mounted in front of the radiator, lower left area. Place a jumper wire from, one side of the female connector to the other to short the switch.

VAN:

Raise engine cover to access the compressor unit which is mounted at the left side of the engine. Space is limited due to the location of the fan shroud, but the turning torque can be checked using a torque wrench and 13 mm short socket. Complete general procedure after jumping the dual pressure switch. (See instructions next page.)

NOTE: The use of a stubby ratchet may be helpful when doing the 3 full turns.
VAN CONT.--JUMP DUAL PRESSURE AS FOLLOWS:

The dual pressure switch must be accessed from underneath vehicle. Raise vehicle on hoist. The dual pressure switch is on the right side of the condenser at the receiver drier. Unplug the connector and jump the harness side. See illustration below for location of dual pressure switch.

STANZA WAGON 2WD/4WD:

The A/C compressor can only be accessed from underneath the vehicle. Place vehicle an hoist and raise all the way up. Locate the right dust shield and remove the four plastic screws and one 10 mm bolt. Then pull the shield back to gain access to the compressor. Check the compressor according to the general procedure (see jumping procedure below). Reinstall the dust cover.

JUMP THE DUAL PRESSURE SWITCH AS FOLLOWS:

This portion of the procedure is done with the vehicle lowered. Disconnect the dual pressure switch connector which is located at the receiver drier. (The receiver drier is mounted to the right strut tower.) Place a jumper wire from one side of the female connector to the other to short the switch.
