Air Temperature Sensor ( Ambient / Intake ): Description and Operation

Air Temperature Sensor:

The air temperature sensor is mounted on the air cleaner box. It senses the temperature of the air flowing into the intake system. The ECU sends a preset voltage to the sensor and reads the difference in voltage flowing through the sensor. The resistance of the sensor raises as air temperature lowers. The ECU uses this information to control engine ping at high intake air temperatures.
