For input test I-0 through I-9 on input system test chart Fig. 17, plug the test connector into the check connector. Do not connect the wire leads (A and B) at this time. Turn the ignition switch to ACC position and press the ECON/A/C button once. Set the data number by turning the Set Temp. button. Note and compare figures indicated on the AMB indicator display section, Fig. 17. To check the ambient sensor portion, turn the ignition switch to ACC position and read figures indicated on the AMB indicator. A reading of minus 56 degrees F will indicate that the ambient sensor is open. A reading of 181 degrees F will indicate that the sensor is shorted.

For input/output system tests 0-1 through 0-6, connect leads A and B, then connect test connector into the check connector. Start engine and press the ECON/A/C button. Check that the output parts operate smoothly using Fig. 18. When reading the display in the output inspection chart, Fig. 18 note the following:
1. The blacked out solid arrows indicate that the indicator is illuminated in the list of checking items.
2. The greyish squares, indicate that the lamp is ON (not included in the list of checking items).
