Fuel Tank: Service and Repair

Fuel Pump Fuse:

1. Remove fuel pump fuse from fuse box.
2. Start engine.
3. When engine stalls, crank or attempt to restart engine 2 or 3 times to release pressure.
4. Turn ignition switch off and reinstall fuel pump fuse.
5. Disconnect fuel pump and gauge electrical connector from inside luggage compartment.
6. Siphon fuel into suitable container.

Fuel Tank Removal:

7. Remove right rear wheel.
8. Remove filler neck retaining ring.

Fuel Tank Removal:

9. Remove filler tube protectors and remove tank ventilation hose.

Fuel Line Routing:

10. Disconnect fuel supply, return, and evaporative lines.

Fuel Tank Assembly:

11. Supporting fuel tank with suitable jack, remove fuel tank mounting bands.
12. Lower fuel tank from vehicle.
13. Reverse procedure to install.
