1. Disconnect and remove air duct and hoses.

2. Remove ignition cover.
Do not remove accelerator cable.

3. Remove #1 ignition coil.

4. Connect the #1 ignition coil and spark plug with a suitable high-tension wire and clamp the inductive pick-up of a timing light to it.
5. Start the engine and warm it up until the water temperature indicator points to the middle of the gauge.
6. Operate the engine at 2000 rpm for 2 minutes under no load.
7. Idle engine and check timing.

Timing should be 15° ± 5° BTDC.
If not proceed to step 8.

8. Adjust the timing by turning the crank angle sensor after loosening the 3 bolts.
9. Turn the engine off.
10. Reassemble in reverse order.
