1. Disconnect power transistor unit connector.

2. Connect adapter harness (Kent-Moore P/N J-36777-2 or equivalent) between transistor unit and harness terminal.
3. Connect output trigger (Kent-Moore P/N J-36777-1 or equivalent) to adapter harness.

4. Clamp the inductive pick-up of a timing light to the trigger loop (noting proper direction if relative to timing light operation).
5. Start the engine and warm it up until the water temperature indicator points to the middle of the gauge.
6. Operate the engine at 2000 rpm for 2 minutes under no load.

7. Idle engine and check timing.
Timing should be 15° ± 5° BTDC.
If not proceed to step 8.

8. Adjust the timing by turning the crank angle sensor after loosening the 3 bolts.
9. Turn the engine off.
10. Reconnect power transistor connector.
