Coat all components liberally with motor oil before installing.
1. Install valve components using new valve oil seals. Install outer valve spring with the narrow pitch side, (more closely wound), toward the cylinder head, Fig. 18.
2. Tap valve stem lightly with plastic mallet after installing to ensure proper fit.
3. Install camshaft onto cylinder head with knock pin in the 12 O'clock position, facing the front of the engine.
4. Install camshaft brackets with arrows facing toward front of engine.
5. Install rocker shaft and arm assemblies, then install retainers as shown in Fig. 19.
6. Tighten rocker shaft bolts to specifications in sequence shown in Fig. 20.
