1990 300ZX AFTERMARKET WHEEL INSTALLATION CAUTION

SERVICE INFORMATION

The wheels of the 1990 300ZX are specifically designed for this car to achieve superior performance. The wheels are uni-directional, and have large openings for improved brake cooling. Additionally, the wheels incorporate a specific amount of offset and clearance from other suspension and brake components to complement the new front and rear multi-link suspension.

These original equipment wheels are subjected to a rigorous testing procedure to ensure they meet Nissan's standards. Obviously, Nissan cannot insure that aftermarket wheels meet these same standards, and therefore Nissan cannot recommend their use, or guarantee their performance.

If aftermarket wheels are installed, the following minimun guidelines should be followed:

1. Always use wheels with the same diameter and rim width as original equipment.

2. Due to the nature of the multi-link suspension, it is critical that the original wheel offset be maintained.

3. Make sure the original factory clearance is maintained between the wheel and the brake calipers and kingpin housing cap.

4. Do not use larger diameter or wider tires than original equipment due to possible interference problems with the third link of the front suspension.

5. Use only a vented-type wheel design to maintain sufficient brake cooling performance.

Aftermarket wheels that do not meet all of the above criteria may degrade handling performance, brake performance, steering performance, ride quality, and result in other problems that may affect safety, performance or customer satisfaction.
