HISSING NOISE FROM 300ZX A/C UNIT

SERVICE INFORMATION:

On some 300ZX vehicles, customers may complain of a "hissing" noise from the A/C system. The installation of a countermeasure Evaporator Inlet Tube (Suction Throttle Valve "STV" Body), newly-constructed of steel, should resolve this complaint.

SERVICE PROCEDURE:
1. Discharge the A/C system into a recycling machine.





2. Remove the STV and Evaporator Inlet Tube from the Evaporator Assembly (Figure 1).





3. With the STV and Tube removed, disassemble it by removing the internal valve (STV) from the Evaporator Inlet Tube (STV Body) (Figure 2).

4. Replace the original Inlet Tube with the countermeasure Inlet Tube. Re-assemble the Valve into the Inlet Tube.
5. Re-install the STV and Tube into the Evaporator Assembly.
6. Recharge the A/C System from the recycling machine.
