With Inductive Test Meter

Inductive Tachometer Connection:





1. Clamp inductive pick-up of meter around wire loop at the power transistor as shown.
2. Start the engine and warm it up until the water temperature indicator points to the middle of the gauge.
3. Operate the engine at 2000 rpm for 2 minutes under no load then idle for 1 minute.
Idle speed should be:
M/T 700 ± 50 rpm.
A/T 770 ± 50 rpm (in "N" position).
If not proceed to step 4.

Idle Air Adjusting Unit:





4. Turn the engine off.
5. Disconnect the auxiliary air control valve connector on the idle air adjusting unit (located at the rear of the left intake plenum).
6. Start and race the engine 2 or 3 times.
7. Adjust the idle speed to:
M/T 650 ± 50 rpm.
A/T 720 ± 50 rpm (in "N" position).
8. Turn the engine off.
9. Reconnect the auxiliary air control valve connector and proceed to step 1.
