SERVICE INFORMATION
On 1990 300ZX vehicles manufactured within the above VIN Ranges it is imortant to re-route the AIV Harness to provide sufficient clearance from the engine block. This Technical Bulletin contains a re-routing procedure for this harness.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Locate VTC Harness on the right side of the intake manifold for cylinders 1, 3, and 5 (Figure 1). Ensure that the harness is tightly secured to the metal support plate by pushing firmly on the 3 plastic loom clamps identified in Figure 1.
CAUTION: Ensure that the vacuum hoses which run next to the VTC Harness are not crimped by the tie-wrap/clamps.

2. Locate the small sub-harness which branches from the VTC Harness to the AIV Solenoid (mounted on the RH suspension tower). Utilize a releasable tie-wrap and secure this sub-harness to the VTC Harness at the point illustrated in Figure 2. Be careful to only secure the AIV sub-harness to the VTC Harness, avoiding bunching or constricting nearby sub-harness or vacuum hoses. After installation of the tie-wrap, check to see that there is sufficient clearance between the affected harnesses, the EGR tube, and the exhaust manifold.

The approximate location for this newly-added tie-wrap is 10mm from the edge of the thicker diameter plastic VTC Harness conduit. The tie-wrap should be positioned in such a way that the pull-through end is pointing toward the ground.
IMPORTANT: Only the AIV Harness is to be secured by the tie-wrap. Do not secure the Oxygen Sensor Harness or EGR Harness with the tie-wrap (Figure 3).
