VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN ON 1990-93 300ZX
IGNITION POWER TRANSISTOR UNIT
This Bulletin contains supplemental information regarding the above listed campaign.
SERVICE INFORMATION
Some dealers have experienced difficulties connecting the new power transistor sub harness to the vehicle harness. The procedure below will help resolve any difficulties that may be encountered.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Using an knife as shown in Figure 2 carefully cut the insulating tape back about a 1/4". This will allow enough slack to secure the connectors without any tension on the sub harness or vehicle harness. This procedure should only be used when difficulty is encountered with the harness. DO NOT mount the power transistor upside down with the arrow facing upwards, as this will position the internal vent incorrectly. (Figure 1)
CAUTION:
Be careful to only cut the tape and not the insulation of the wires. If the wires are damaged they should be taped using an electrical insulating tape such as 3M "Super 88".
