APPLIED MODELS:

1989-90 240SX
1990 300ZX

SERVICE INFORMATION:

On some 1989-90 Nissan models, customers may complain of an odor from the A/C system. The odor may be described as usually occurring when the A/C system is first turned on and lasts for approximately 15 seconds. On new models a fine mesh screen has been added to the fresh air inlet grilles to prevent debris from entering the A/C ducting. It may be necessary to clean the A/C ducting of debris to eliminate the odor.

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

1. Confirm the odor is from the A/C system.

2. If the A/C system is confirmed as the source of the odor, check production date and compare to chart in this bulletin.

3. If the incident vehicle is in the production range listed in the parts table, inspect the grille for the countermeasure screen. If no screen is present, replace the fresh air inlet grille. Use the part numbers information.
