1990 300ZX TURBO SPOILER LOOSE

APPLIED MODEL: 1990 300ZX

APPLIED VIN: JN1CZ24A(*)LX003620

APPLIED DATE: February 1, 1990

Figure 1:

SERVICE INFORMATION:
On some 1990 300ZX Turbo vehicles, customers may complain that the rear spoiler ends are loose. The incident may occur if the clip interferes with the back door inner panel, preventing secure attachment (Figure 1).

Production Countermeasure:
The side hole of the back door outer panel has been moved 2 mm upward, to avoid the clip interfering with the back door inner panel.

Figure 2a:

REPAIR INFORMATION:

To allow for more clearance between the clip and the back door inner panel, the shape of the clip has been changed. A countermeasure clip has been developed (Figure 2a).

Figure 2b:

NOTE: This repair requires the installation of Spacer-Air Spoiler-RH, P/N 96060-42P00 and Spacer-Air Spoiler-LH, P/N 96061-42P00. These are self-adhesive foam spacers which adhere to the body and the spoiler (Figure 2b).

When repairing the spoiler with the spacer and new clips, it is important to verify that the outer body panel has not been damaged by previous repair attempts. The outer body panel must be flat for the clip to properly seat.
