TRUCK/30OZX CLUTCH "POPPING" NOISE
APPLIED MODEL:
1990-92 Truck/30OZX
SERVICE INFORMATION
On some 1990-92 Truck/300ZX vehicles, customers may complain of a "popping" noise from the clutch pedal when the pedal is depressed and released. (See illustration for details.)
This condition may occur when the push rod does not fit correctly into the piston assembly. The resulting side movement of the rod causes the "popping" noise. This can be corrected by following the Service Procedure.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Remove the clutch master cylinder assembly from the vehicle and carefully remove the push rod from the assembly. Remove a small amount of metal from the push rod head and smooth the surface. See the illustrations for details.
Make sure the interfacing surface has no side movement and that the rod fits properly into the piston assembly. Reassemble master cylinder and reinstall onto vehicle. Bleed the clutch system and confirm that the "popping" noise has been eliminated.
