SERVICE INFORMATION
Some above mentioned vehicles may exhibit a rough idle and/or rough running condition caused by fouled spark plugs. This condition is usually identified during Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) or within the first few months of service.
The diagnostic chart will assist in the evaluation of rough idle/rough running conditions and, additionally, will provide criteria for platinum spark plug cleaning or replacement.
Spark plug fouling can be prevented during storage by following the Dealer Vehicle Handling Procedures. After the vehicle is taken out of storage to be prepared for retail delivery, try to minimize the amount of times that the engine is started and stopped without letting the engine warm-up. When the engine is started the mixture is rich to aid starting and many short driving trips will contribute to spark plug fouling. If the engine is allowed to warm up until it goes into closed loop operation (about 10 minutes) this will help prevent spark plug fouling.
