APPLIED MODEL: 300ZX (Z32) Non-turbo (equipped with Dunlop Tires) Production Date to August, 1990.

SERVICE INFORMATION:

On some 1990 300ZX vehicles, customers may complain of excessive tire wear on the front tires. Front tire wear may occur on the inner part of the tread and the customer may also complain of a "growling/howling" noise from the front of the vehicle.

Use the following procedure to inspect and repair vehicles with this complaint.

NOTE: Inspect tires for signs of abuse such as heavy scrubbing, bent wheels/suspension components due to accident damage, etc. Such wear/damage is not covered under warranty.

Inspection/repair procedure:

1. Ensure that the tires are properly inflated; front 33 psi (cold); rear 36 psi (cold).

2. Verify proper vehicle alignment by performing a "4-Wheel Alignment" utilizing the specifications found on the back outer cover of the 300ZX Service Manual. Repair any nonconforming conditions.

3. If the vehicle alignment and tire pressures are all correct, replace the prematurely worn tires (see Parts Information).
* Warranty is effective within 15,600 miles (25,000 km).

Fitting procedure:

1. When fitting new tires, ensure that the wheels are mounted on the correct side of the vehicle and that the directional arrows on the side walls of the tires point in the direction of rotation.

2. Ensure that the white mark on the wheel rim lines-up with the red mark on the tire.

3. Ensure that the new tires are correctly inflated; front 33 psi (cold); rear 36 psi (cold).

PARTS INFORMATION:

A Dunlop Tire with improved wear characteristics is available. These tires can be identified by the "DOT" number on the side of the tire, (as shown on diagram 1)
