FRONT BRAKE CLUNKING NOISE IN REVERSE

SERVICE INFORMATION

On some 1990 300ZX vehicles, customers may complain, of a "clunking noise" during braking, while the vehicle is moving in reverse. This condition can be eliminated by the addition of a pad retainer, fitted to each front pad. The retainer is a small metal stamping, and is secured with the upper pad pin on each caliper, using the service procedure contained in this Technical Bulletin.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Remove the pad pins, then the pads from the calipers.

2. Push the pad retainer over the pad backing plate, at the upper hole location shown below.
3. Refit the pads and pins in the caliper.
