300ZX (Z32) T-BAR ROOF WATER LEAKAGE
APPLIED MODELS:

SERVICE INFORMATION:
On some of the applied vehicles, water leaks may be identified at the following areas:
I. Water Leakage from Body Side, Weatherstrip
II. Water Leakage from Body Side Center Weatherstrip
III. Water Leakage from T-Bar Roof Assembjy
REPAIR INFORMATION:
I. Water Leakage from Body Side Weatherstrip
1. Removal of Body Side Weatherstrip
a. Remove T-Bar Roof Assembly
b. Remove weatherstrip from the body.
NOTE:
The weatherstrip is secured to the body with two (2) screws and three (3) clips. (Figure 1)
2. Installation of Body Side Weatherstrip
a. Apply Permatex # 82 Black Super Weatherstrip Adhesive (Item No. 81850) or equivalent to the areas indicated in Figure 2.
b. Install the weatherstrip assembly to the body. (Figure 3)
c. Apply pressure to the weatherstrip to firmly attach the butyl tape. (Figure 4)
NOTE:
If there is any deformation in the RH/LH Body Side Retainer Assembly, remove that Retainer Assembly and replace it with a new one. If it is necessary to replace a Retainer Assembly, be especially careful to evenly and securely tighten the Retainer Assembly attachment screws. (Figure 5)
II. Water Leakage from Body Side Center Weatherstrip
1. Removal of Body Side Center Weatherstrip
a. Remove T-Bar Roof Assembly.
b. Remove the two (2) attachment screws which secure the weatherstrip to the T-Bar Roof (Figure 6)
2. Installation of Body Side Center Weatherstrip
a. Prior to reinstalling weatherstrip, apply Permatex # 82 Black Super Weatherstrip Adhesive (Item No. 81850) or equivalent to the retainer area indicated in Figure 7.
b. Firmly install the weatherstrip to the retainer; but, at this time, do not tighten the two (2) retainer-to-T-Top attachment screws.
c. Make sure that the edges of the weatherstrip are firmly seated to the retainer. If necessary, manipulate the weatherstrip to conform to the retainer. (Figure 8)
d. Reinstall T-Top to check if there is a gap between the Body Side Center Weatherstrip and the Body Side Weatherstrip. (Figure 9)
e. If there is a gap between the Body Side Center Weatherstrip and the Body Side Weatherstrip, adjust the position of the weatherstrip fore and aft and tighten the two (2) attachment screws.
f. To confirm that the above-detailed repairs have resolved the water leakage at the T-Top weatherstrips, pour/splash water at the junction of the T-Top Roof and the door glass.
1. If water leaks from the contact area of the Center Weatherstrip and/or the Body Side Weatherstrip, confirm that Repair Procedure II, Steps 2 a-b-c-d, were properly completed.
2. Re-test for water integrity.
3. If you cannot fix the water leakage according to the above-detailed procedures, adjust the alignment of the door glass (refer to the 1993 300ZX (Z32) Service Manual, pages BF-12 and BF-13). Re-test for water integrity.
III. Water Leakage from the T-Bar Roof
1. Removal of Roof Garnish (Figure 10)
a. Remove lever.
b. Remove the three (3) attachment screws [Center, RH, LH]
2. Remove fixing nuts of T-Bar Roof Glass.
3. Apply Permatex # 66B Clear RTV Silicone Adhesive Sealant (Item No. 80636) or equivalent to seal the area around the fixing bolts. (Figure 11)
4. Reassemble by reversing the removal procedure.
NOTE:
Torque the T-Bar Roof Glass fixing nuts to 9-12 ft.lbs.
