Ignition Switch: Service and Repair

Fig. 1 Ignition Switch Replacement:

1. Disable airbag system, refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG ARMING & DISARMING.

2. Remove the four upper and lower shell cover retaining screws, then the shell covers.
3. Disconnect electrical connectors from switch.






4. Break self-shear type screws with a drill or other appropriate tool.
5. Remove switch retaining screw from steering lock, Fig. 1.
6. Remove switch.
7. Reverse procedure to install.






8. Install self-shear type screws and then cut off self-share type screw heads.
rearm airbag, refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG ARMING & DISARMING.
