C.Wire Harness Routing and Connections
FIGURE 6:
C. WIRE HARNESS ROUTING AND CONNECTIONS
1. Lay out the wiring harness. Remove any tangles and separate the single BLACK trunkswitch wire. Plug the large connector into the electronic module and lay the harness in as shown in figure 6. Route all but the single BLACK tninkswkch wire under the carpet along the underseat cross member and forward alorig the door sill, under the plastic harness protectors, to the kick panel area.
FIGURE 7:
2. Connect the two and four wire branches as follows:
GRAY ... Locate the 4-pin connector (M6) connected to the door switch diode. (The door switch
diode is taped to the main harness 10 inches behind the fuse block, just above the hood
release cable. See figure 7.) Unwrap the tape to gain access to the diode wiring. Cut the
gray wire to length and connect with a BEQ Scotchlok to the RED/WHITE wire. Retape the
diode to the main harness.
GREEN ... Ground the terminal with the mounting screw of the time control unit.
Route the remaining wires (except the BLACK hoodswitch wire ) to the undercolumn area.
RED ... Locate the 11-pin connector (E113) at the base of the combination lighting switch.
Connect wkh a SM Scotchlok to the RED wire.
YELLOW...On the same 11-pin connector (E113) connect with a Blue Scotchlok to the RED/BLUE clearance light wire.
ORANGE ... Locate the 8-pin connector (E115) under the wiper controls. Connect with a RED
Scotchlok to the PINK washer wire.
DARK GREEN/BLACK ... Locate the horn switch connector. [3-pin (E114) with ASCD; 1-pin (E116)
without ASCD] Connect with a RED Scotchlok to the GREEN/WHITE horn wire.
FIGURE 8:
3. BLACK Hoodswitch Wire (figure 8)
Remove the left front wheelhouse liner. Locate and remove the unused grommet in front of the door harness grommet. Cut a small hole in the grommet for the BLACK hoodswitch wire. Route the BLACK wire through the grommet hole and thread on the grommet. Pass the BLACK wire up along the vehicle harness into the engine compartment. Route the BLACK wire around the left shock tower, under the air cleaner, up to the hoodswitch and plug it in. Draw the excess wire back into the kick panel area. Reseat the grommet and seal it with RTV.
4. BLACK Trunkswitch Wire
Remove the left rear door sill protector and the rear seat cushion. Route the BLACK trunkswitch wire under the carpet and plastic harness protector to under the rear seat. Cross over to the right side of the vehicle and route the BLACK wire up between the rear seat back and the trunk trim panel to the trunk lamp switch connector (T8) at the deck hinge. Cut the BLACK wire to length and connect with a RED Scotchlok to the RED wire.
5. Plug the status monitor cable into the 5-pin connector on the main VSS harness.
6. Secure all wires out of sight and clear of the pedals and other moving parts with the wire-ties provided. Bundle all excess wire behind the kick panel.
D. CHECKOUT THE INSTALLATION AS SHOWN IN THE INSTALLATION CHECKOUT SECTION.
