Installation

Fig. 3 Timing Mark Alignment.:





1. Install crankshaft sprocket. (Make sure that mating marks of crankshaft sprocket face engine front.)
2. Install camshaft sprocket.
3. Confirm that No. 1 piston is set at T.D.C. on its compression stroke.
4. Install timing chain.
5. Set timing chain by aligning its mating marks with those of crankshaft sprocket and camshaft sprocket.

Camshaft Sprocket Bolt:





6. Tighten camshaft sprocket bolt.
Torque to: 118 - 157 N-m (87 - 116 ft.lb.)

Chain Guide And Tensioner:





7. Install chain guide and chain tensioner.
Torque tensioner bolt to:
7 - 8 N-m (5.1 - 5.8 ft.lb.)

Torque chain guide bolts to:
13 - 19 N-m (9 - 14 ft.lb.)

Front Cover Sealant:





8. Apply liquid gasket to front cover.

Front Cover Oil Seal:





9. Install front cover.

CAUTION: Be careful not to damage cylinder head gasket.

CAUTION: Do not forget oil seal.

Torque 6mm bolts to:
7 - 8 N-m (5.1 - 5.8 ft.lb.)

Torque 8mm bolts to:
16 - 21 N-m (12 - 15 ft.lb.)

10. Install oil strainer securing bolt to main bearing beam.
Torque to: 7 - 8 N-m (5.1 - 5.8 ft.lb.)

11. Install oil pan.
Torque bolts to: 7 - 8 N-m (5.1 - 5.8 ft.lb.)

12. Install engine mounting.
13. Install any parts removed.
