Engine: Service and Repair






WARNING:
- DO NOT REMOVE ENGINE UNTIL EXHAUST SYSTEM HAS COMPLETELY COOLED, OTHERWISE, YOU MAY BURN YOURSELF AND/OR A FIRE MAY BREAK OUT IN FUEL LINE.
- BEFORE DISCONNECTING FUEL HOSE, RELEASE FUEL PRESSURE.
- BE SURE TO HOIST ENGINE AND TRANSAXLE IN A SAFE MANNER.


CAUTION:
- Position vehicle on a flat and solid surface.
- Place chocks at front and back of rear wheels.

REPLACEMENT
1. Remove the transmission, engine under cover and hood.
2. Drain coolant from drain plug on cylinder block and radiator drain cock.
3. Release the fuel pressure and drain engine oil.
4. Remove the negative battery cable.
5. Remove vacuum hoses, fuel hoses, wires, harnesses and connectors.
6. Remove the front exhaust tube.
7. Remove radiator and shroud.
8. Remove drive belts.
9. Remove the A/C compressor and power steering oil pump.
10. Set a suitable hoist above the engine, with engine slinger.

CAUTION: For engines not equipped with engine slingers, attach proper slingers and bolts described in the parts catalog.

11. Remove engine mounting bolts from both sides.





12. Slowly raise engine as shown.

NOTE:
- When lifting the engine, be sure to clear surrounding parts, especially the accelerator wire casing, brake lines and the brake master cylinder.
- Use special care for accelerator wire casing, brake lines and brake master cylinder.

13. Reverse procedure to install.
