SERVICE INFORMATION
When the radio is stolen from a vehicle, connectors and/or wires may be damaged or removed. To avoid replacing the vehicle's main wire harness, Audio Theft Repair Kits have been developed:
-- These kits include the radio connectors with several inches of wire and splice connectors.
-- Connector installation does not require soldering. The non-Bose kits contain connectors that attach with pliers. The Bose kits contain heat shrinking solder sleeves that require a heat gun with a deflector tip to install. (Raychem CV5300 or equivalent.)
-- Before ordering any kits, check all remaining vehicle harness wires in the area for damage or complete removal. Replacing the entire wire harness may be necessary if the damage affects wiring beyond the audio system. Installation of the kit connectors requires at least one inch of the vehicle audio wiring to be accessible.
-- These kits usually require less than an hour for installation (depending on the amount of damage).
-- The chart on the following page describes kit application by vehicle.
