SERVICE INFORMATION

Some 240SX automatic transmission models produced before the applied date may experience premature wear of the transmission rear carrier assembly. This incident may cause symptoms of slipping, no movement in reverse and/or noise. A countermeasure rear carrier assembly has been developed to improve rear carrier assembly performance by modifying pinion shaft lubrication.

To install the countermeasure rear carrier assembly in a vehicle built before the applied date, the thrust bearing, rear sun gear, and internal gear must also be replaced as a set (see chart below).
