APPLIED MODELS:
[California Emissions Certified]

SERVICE INFORMATION:
If a customer driving one of the Applied Models observes the "Check Engine" light illuminated and the vehicle is subsequently evaluated with Consult, two of the codes which may be retrieved are: Code 32 (EGR Failure) or Code 45 (INJECTOR Leak).

This Bulletin will identify the General Sequence of DIAGNOSTIC/REPAIR INFORMATION to assist you in the resolution of Code 32 and/or Code 45. Secondly, this Bulletin will provide you with a Model/Year-Specific Sequence of DIAGNOSTIC/REPAIR INFORMATION to help you resolve Code 32 and/or Code 45 Faults on the above-applied vehicles.

I. [General Sequence] DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR INFORMATION:

Code 32=

1. Check Basic Settings: TPS; Idle Speed; and Ignition Timing.

2. Review appropriate Section for Diagnostic Procedure.

3 a. Inspect and clean the EGR passage in intake manifold.

b. Verify operation of EGR temperature sensor.

4. Refer to Model/Year-Specific Sequence for application of countermeasure part (if required).

Code 45=

1 a. Check A/F Alpha reading in data monitor, if Consult compatible. A/F Alpha is checked at 2,000 RPM in neutral. If Alpha reading is greater than 90%, then, the injectors are probably not leaking.

b. Check fuel pressure/injector leakage test.

c. Check operation of MAFS and connection.

d. Check operation of oxygen sensor.

2. Add additional ground to MAFS harness ground wire connection at MAFS. Sub-harness is available for 3-wire MAFS, as applied to: M11; S13; U12; WD21.
