Wastegate Valve Control System

Waste Gate Valve Control System (Twin-Turbo Only):

SYSTEM OPERATION
The ECU controls the amount of turbocharger boost via the wastegate valve and solenoid. The ECU monitors the engine speed and position, throttle position and for the presence of detonation to determine boost requirements.

Solenoid Valve:

SOLENOID OPERATION
When the ECU determines conditions are suitable for turbo operation it energizes the solenoid. This closes off the vent port in the wastegate control line, allowing boost pressure to control the wastegate valve. When the solenoid is off the control line is open to the inlet side of the turbo. This allows the boost pressure to be vented instead of being applied to the wastegate valve.
