Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Control System

E.G.R / Canister Purge Control System:

CIRCUIT OPERATION
The canister purge control system controls purge control and EGR operation during both low and high engine revolutions. The ECU receives signals from the crank angle sensor, air flow meter, engine temperature sensor, vehicle speed sensor and the ignition switch to determine if canister purge operation is warranted. The ECU supplies the ground circuit for the solenoid.

EGR/CANISTER CONTROL SOLENOID
When the ECU senses the predetermined conditions suitable for operation, it de-energizes the EGR/CANISTER solenoid, redirecting vacuum from the source port and vent port to the source port and valve port allowing CANISTER purge and EGR operation.
Refer to EMISSION CONTROLS for further description of the EGR/EVAP CANISTER system.

EGR And Canister Solenoid Operation:

Refer to the chart for EGR/CANISTER solenoid operating conditions.
