Wire Harness Routing and Connections

B. WIRE HARNESS ROUTING AND CONNECTIONS
1. Lay out the wiring harness. Remove any tangles and separate one of the single BLACK wires. Plug the large connector into the electronic module and lay the harness as shown in Figure 1. Route all but the single BLACK wire under the carpet, along the underseat crossmember, along the door sill, under the plastic harness protectors, and up to the kick panel area.
2. Remove the switch blank, located left of the steering column, by pushing out from behind (see Figure 1). Route the small connector harness up through the hole and attach to the status monitor. Snap the monitor into place. Apply the status monitor overlay by CAREFULLY aligning it and smoothing from the center out.

Figure 2:

3. Connect the two and four wire branches as follows:
GRAY ... Locate the RED/WHITE wire in the sill wire harness. Connect with RED Scotchlok.

Figure 3:

GREEN ... Ground the ring terminal with the mounting screw located left of the fuse block.
Route the remaining wires (except the BLACK hoodswitch wire) to the undercolumn area.

RED... Locate the 11-pin connector (E47) at the base of the combination lighting switch. Connect to the RED wire with a BLUE Scotchlok.

YELLOW ... On the same 11-pin connector (E47), connect to the RED/BLUE clearance light
wire with a BLUE Scotchlok.

ORANGE ... Locate the 8-pin connector (E49) for the wiper controls. Connect to the PINK
wire with a RED Scotchlok.

DARK GREEN/BLACK ... On the same connector (E49), oonnect to the GREEN/WHITE wire
with a RED Scotchlok.

4. Route the BLACK hood switch wire as follows:
Remove the left front wheelhouse liner. Locate and remove the unused grommet located in front of the door harness. Cut a small hole in the grommet for the BLACK hoodswitch wire. Route the BLACK wire through the grommet hole and through the grommet (see Figure 3). Pass the wire up to and through the 3/4" hole located to the rear of the left strut tower (see Figure 4). Route the wire around the strut tower and up to the radiator. Install the pinswitch in the larger hole on the radiator core support, 5-1/2" from the left fender, using the nut from the AUXILIARY SWITCH KIT. Draw the excess wire back into the kick panel area and tape up the bundle. Reset the grommet and seal with RTV silicon sealer. Attach wire to pinswitch. Install wheelhouse liner. Be sure the switch operates without interference. Also check for proper operation when the hood is fully closed. If the pinswitch is too short, refit it with the washers included in the kit.
5. Route the BLACK trunk switch wire as follows:
Remove the rear seat, left rear door sill protector, and lower B-pillar finisher (4-door models). Route the BLACK trunkswitch wire under the carpet, under the sill harness protector, to the rear seat area.

For vehicles with trunk light:
Route the BLACK wire to the 13-pin connector (B25) located at the base of the C-pillar. Locate the RED wire at the corner of the oonnector and attach with a RED Scotchlok.

Figure 6:

For vehicles without a trunk light:
Route the BLACK trunkswitch wire to the trunk area. Attach the wire to the deck lid harness and route the wire end up to trunk latch. Drill a 11/32" hole in the deck lid left of the latch as shown. Apply Rust Preventative to the hole. Feed the BLACK wire through the hole, through a pinswitch washer, and attach to the pinswitch. Install the pinswitch and DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN.

6. For 4-Door models without interior light switches at the rear doors, pinswitch installation is required:
Remove lower B-pillar finishers on both sides of the vehicle. Mark and drill 11/32" holes as shown. Apply Nissan Rust Preventative. Using the pinswitches from the AUXILIARY SWITCH KIT, and BEING CAREFUL NOT TO OVERTIGHTEN, install the pinswitches using the box end of a 12 mm combination wrench. Screw in while pressing down firmly with your thumb. Check the pinswitch for operation and for obstructed closure of the doors. Connect a YELLOW/BLUE wire (from the auxiliary switch kit) to the pinswitch. Route the wire down inside the B-pillar to the front side of the seat belt retractor. Connect to the same RED/WHITE wire the kit's GRAY wire was connected (in the sill harness) with a RED Scotchlok. Rear doors now operate the dome light.
C. CHECKOUT THE INSTALLATION AS SHOWN IN THE INSTALLATION CHECK OUT SECTION.

D. INSTALL ALL TRIM AND SEATS.
Front seat torque specifications: 18-23 ft.lbs. (25-31 N-m, 2.5-3.2 Kg-m). Install NEW torx screws on the 2-Door models. Door sill latch Torx screws torque specs.: 22-26 ft.lbs. (29-34 N-m, 3.0-3.5 Kg-m)
