APPLIED MODELS:
All 300ZX Convertible
All 240SX Convertible

SERVICE INFORMATION

Many convertible top repairs can and should be performed quickly in order to promptly return the vehicle to the owner. However, when the nature of the warranty repair requires the specialized equipment and skills of a convertible top specialty shop, the vehicle should be sent to an ASC licensed facility for sublet repair. Included is a list of the approved convertible repair facilities which are listed by ASC and therefore approved by NMC to perform sublet repair.

IMPORTANT:

NMC requests notification when repairs of convertible top incidents are not resolved. Please notify the FIXS Hotline (1-800-NMC-FIXS) if the best efforts of both the Dealership and ASC licensee have been unsuccessful. NMC and ASC want to take all steps necessary to properly complete the repairs.

WHO PERFORMS WHAT WORK

Certain Convertible system warranty work is to be performed by the Nissan Dealer. Other work should be performed only by trained and authorized ASC Licensees by sublet from the Nissan Dealer. This arrangement is designed to ensure that specialized soft top trim and backlite services are handled by technicians trained on convertibles. Who performs what work depends on the type of warranty work to be performed and is outlined below:

The ASC licensee should perform the following work:

Convertible Top Assembly (fabric and mechanical)
Rear Window (backlight)
Bootwell Assembly
Headliner Assembly
Stay Pads/Tack Strips/Retention Cables/Bow Retainers
Assist Dealer with Diagnosis

The Nissan Dealer should perform the following work:

Seal/Moldings
Door/Window Adjustments and Component Replacement Electrical/Hydraulic Trouble Shooting and Component Replacement
Top Stack Latching/Unlatching Adjustment and Component Replacement
Top Stack Linkage Replacement
Assist ASC Licensee with Diagnosis

Instructions for Sublet Warranty Repairs to ASC Licensees:

NISSAN DEALER INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBLET WARRANTY REPAIRS TO ASC LICENSEES.

A. If the closest ASC repair station (licensee) is less than sixty (60) miles from the Nissan Dealer ship [less than one hundred twenty (120) miles round trip] the Nissan Dealer should contact the ASC Licensee to make arrangements to deliver the vehicle for repair. The service needed should be reviewed to verify accountability, repair, and turn-around time. The Convertible Diagnostic Worksheet should be used as a communication aid between Dealer and ASC Licensee. The customer should be advised of the total round trip mileage accumulation needed to repair the vehicle.

B. If your closest ASC repair station is in excess of sixty (60) miles from an Nissan Dealership [exceeding one hundred twenty (120) miles, round trip]:

1. The Nissan Dealer will contact the ASC Customer Satisfaction Department Representative at 1-800-327-8054 requesting assistance.
2. Based on ASC and Dealer mutual agreement, one of the following options will be immediately chosen:
a. ASC will provide technical assistance by phone to the Nissan dealership technician.
b. Use a qualified alternate repair facility within a sixty (60) mile radius of the Nissan dealership.
c. A qualified ASC technician will repair the problem (If immediate vehicle repair is required and the ASC technician cannot meet the 24 hour repair requirement, then the Nissan Dealer will determine whether the repair should await the availability of the ASC technician or utilize an ASC qualified alternate repair facility).
d. ASC will arrange to transport the Nissan vehicle by Cross Country Motor Club flatbed from the Nissan dealership to the ASC Licensee location. Cross Country Motor Club will bill Nissan for transport service.

C. Should a problem of chronic late turn around time or poor service response occur involving ASC Licensee locations, the Nissan dealer should contact the Dealer Operations Manager who, in turn, will contact the Regional Operations Manager.

WARRANTY CLAIM ADMINISTRATION

A. Warranty Operation Codes, PNC Codes, and Flat Rate Times have been created specifically for the 300ZX and 240SX Convertible system.

B. The Nissan Dealer will reimburse the sublet Licensee for all warranty work performed; the sublet bill must be maintained with the Vehicle Service History File.

C. Claim submission by Nissanet should be performed using normal Warranty claims procedures.
