SERVICE INFORMATION

This bulletin provides guidelines regarding the Remanufactured Rear Wheel Drive Automatic Transmission Program. This bulletin applies to all rear wheel drive automatic transmission incidents that require removal and repair or replacement of:

Internal parts such as: bands, bearings, clutches, gears, oil pumps, servos, shafts, washers and etc.; or

External case members such as: the extension housing or the main housing.

Replacement of remanufactured units will include the torque converters.

NOTE:
Only NissanMatic "D" Automatic Transmission Fluid is authorized for use in performing warranty, service contract or goodwill repairs or other repairs to Nissan vehicles to be paid by Nissan. Nissan will not reimburse dealers for use of non-genuine Nissan automatic transmission fluid for such repairs.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

CAUTION:
If you can trace a transmission incident to an electronic control or wiring problem, then make these repairs before any further diagnosis attempts. Always perform self-diagnosis first if CONSULT compatible.

When a customer experiences a potential transmission incident, please do the following:

1. Road test the vehicle with the customer. Verify the complaint and symptoms.

2. Determine the frequency or regularity of the symptoms the customer senses.

3. Based on the information from steps 1 and 2, fill out a transmission diagnosis check sheet before any further action is taken.





4. Once the incident is verified, follow the procedures on the chart.
