SERVICE INFORMATION
300ZX models produced with the above VIN ranges do not have sufficient clearance between the engine block and the AIV harness. Use the following procedures for re-routing the harness.

Fig. 1 VTC Harness:

1. Locate the valve timing control (VTC) harness on the right side of the engine (refer to Fig. 1).
2. Confirm that the harness is secured firmly to the metal support plate by pushing on the plastic harness looms (refer to Fig. 1). Also make sure that the vacuum hoses that run next to the harness are not pinched by the tie-wraps/clamps.

Fig. 2 Sub-Harness:

3. Locate the small sub-harness that branches off from the VTC harness to the AIV solenoid (mounted on the right strut tower).
4. Using a suitable tie-wrap, secure the AIV harness to the VTC harness as indicated in Fig. 2 (make sure the end of the tie-wrap points toward the ground).

Fig. 3 Properly Secured Harness:

NOTE: Do not secure the vacuum hoses or the EGR and O2 sensor harnesses that run along the same path.
5. Confirm that there is sufficient clearance between the harnesses, EGR tube and the exhaust manifold.
