Engine: Service and Repair
WARNING:a. Situate vehicle on a flat and solid surface.
b. Place chocks at front and back of rear wheels.
C. Do not remove engine until exhaust system has completely cooled off. Otherwise, you may burn yourself and/or fire may break out in fuel line.
d. For safety during subsequent steps, the tension of wires should be slackened against the engine.
e. Before disconnecting fuel hose, release fuel pressure from fuel line.Refer to Releasing Fuel Pressure.
f. Be sure to hoist engine and transmission in a safe manner.
g. For engines not equipped with engine slingers, attach proper slingers and bolts.
CAUTION:
- When lifting engine, be careful not to strike adjacent parts, especially accelerator wire casing, brake lines and brake master cylinder.
- In hoisting the engine, always use engine slingers in a safe manner.
Note: The engine and transaxle must be removed as an assembly.
1. Release fuel system pressure as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/RELIEVING FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Drain engine coolant from cylinder block and radiator.
4. Disconnect or remove all hoses, linkages, electrical connectors and accessories necessary for engine removal.
5. Attach suitable lifting equipment to engine.
6. Support transaxle with suitable jack.
7. Remove engine mounting bolts.
8. Remove engine and transaxle as follows:
a. Remove left and right side rear engine mounts.
b. Remove center crossmember from underneath engine.
c. Slowly lower transaxle jack and remove engine and transaxle from under the vehicle.
9. Reverse procedure to install.
